The photographs from the 1950s were sent to St John’s Church, Blackheath by Margery Weekes, who joined the staff of Blackheath & Kidbrooke School in September 1950 (aged 20)  and is now in her 90s. She was hoping that former pupils might be moved to make contact with St Johns. She realises that some would be approaching 80 years old. She wrote that Blackheath & Kidbrooke was such a happy school, more like a family. She has forwarded an album of photographs from her time at Blackheath & Kidbrooke covering mainly P.E., Sports and School Journeys duirng the 1950s. Some of these photographs are reproduced here and anyone interested in seeing the whole collection can contact Mike Leader - see contact page.

Also included in the collection was a page from the St John’s Parish Magazine in 1957 which quoted from the Headmaster’s Report: The Headmaster stressed that the aim of the teachers was so to train their pupils that they would become men and women of character, knowing the Christian Faith, and set on the course which would help them to become decent, upright citizens.
